Thalicha Idli/Seasoned Idli

Idli is a famous and popular breakfast in South India. Its also good when you are unwell with delicious sambar or chutney.

Ingredients
Idli Batter -  6 Karandi/laddles(Click here for batter recipe)
Salt as required

For seasoning
Oil - 1/2 tspn
Kadugu/Mustard - a pinch
Kadalai Paruppu/Channa Dal - 1/2 tspn
Peringayam/Hing/Asafotida- a pinch
Grated Carrot - 2 tspns
Chopped Kothamalli/Cilantro - 1 tspn(Optional)

Preparation Method
Heat a pan, add oil and season all the ingredients except carrot and mix in the Idli batter.
In the Idli plate, grease it with little Nalla Yennai/gingely oil. Pour little batter and fill carrot and again pour little batter on it.
Make another plate same as above.
You can steam it with Idli cooker or fill 2 cups water in a kadai, keep this two plates and close it with a lid.
Steam it for 12-15mins.
Makes around 8 idlis.
Serves - 1 or 2 pax.

Fluffy Seasoned Idlis are ready. Serve it with Tomato or coconut chutney or sambar or just sugar.

Healing Food - Ginger and Garlic Event Announcement and Giveaway!!!

This month I am hosting Healing Foods event started by Siri of Cooking with Siri who has wonderful recipes at her space. The theme picked is Ginger Garlic. I would like to thank Siri for giving the opportunity for hosting the event.

Eggless Choco Fruit and Walnut Cake

It been raining since 4days continuously and its very boring.

After long time I am posting baking recipe, my previous one was Cruncy Pina Cookie. Baking is one of my new focus, I love baking if its success and this recipe is one of it.

Ingredients
APF/Maida - 1.5 cups
Condensed Milk(Lowfat) - 1/2 tin
Choco powder -  1 tspn(unsweetned, I added for colour optional)
Mixed fruits and walnut - 1/2 cup
Baking Soda - 1 tspn
Baking Powder - 1 tspn
Vanilla essence - few drops(optional)
Warm Milk and Warm water - 1/2 cup + as required
Sugar if required
Vinegar - 1 tspn


Preparation Method
Seive APF, soda, chocopowder and Baking powder. Add fruits and nuts and mix.
Take a wide bowl, mix condensed milk and milk. slowly add the dry ingredients and mix in one direction slowly.
If the batter is too thick, add little warm water, vinegar and mix without lumps.
Pour in the small rectangle baking dish. Grease the dish, I had greased with olive oil.
Pre heat the oven at 200 C.

Bake for 30- 40 mins. Take a tooth pick or fork and check if it comes out clean or bake for few more minutes.

Choco Fruit and Walnut cake is ready. Enjoy it with Coffee/Tea.

I cut into small squares wrapped it in aluminium foil and rolled it colour paper like chocolates for my son.
